Since the 2011 season, Formula 1 has had Pirelli as its sole tire supplier, so all the single-seaters compete on equal terms with their rivals.
However, the regulations changed over the years until reaching the current regulations in which there are five different compounds in the range of the Italian company, of which three are used in each Grand Prix.
In this way, the Milan-based company transports the selected wheels (from C5 to C1) to the circuits every weekend, and for the next races, which will take place before the summer break of the highest category of motorsport, not will be an exception.
The Milanese announced the compounds that they will take to the events in Austria, France and Hungary, which close the first part of the European tour before the long-awaited vacation before facing the frenetic second round of a course of 22 weekends of competition.
For the test in Austrian land, the quintessential Red Bull territory after four wins by Max Verstappen in six seasons, Pirelli will travel with the softest tires possible, that is, C3 (white), C4 (yellow) and C5 (red) .
After visiting the home of the group of energy drinks, the northern Italian company will take a step up the scale, selecting C2 (white) as the hardest tire, C3 (yellow) as the medium and on this occasion the most soft will be C4 (red).
These compounds will be present both in the French Grand Prix and in the Hungarian Grand Prix, where they are used to seeing strategic diversities due to the degradation of the wheels.
“The tire choices for the next three races are set,” Pirelli said in a post on social media. “You know how it works: a set of softs is saved for Q3, and the top ten put them back. A set of mediums and hards are saved for the race, drivers use at least one of them!”
