F1 | Video: Leclerc destroys the Ferrari in FP2 in Mexico!

The action of the 2022 Formula 1 Mexican Grand Prix began calmly, especially for Ferrari who dominated the first free practice session at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodríguez, with Carlos Sainz ahead of Charles Leclerc. For FP2, all the single-seaters, except for those of the starters who made room for the rookies a few hours earlier, took to the track on Pirelli prototype tyres , with rubbers being studied for next year.

It was there where the least risks should be taken, since little useful information for Sunday’s race can be obtained, but the Monegasque was the protagonist after half an hour of second practice. The Prancing Horse driver lost the rear of his F1-75 in the loops of the second sector, was unable to regain control and went straight into the guards, destroying the rear area of the Maranello car.

Charles Leclerc was preparing to enter the section prior to the area where all Mexican fans enjoy a real party at the Foro Sol , especially as local hero Sergio Pérez passed by, but his tires did not grip well enough and he failed to stay on the asphalt, so it hit the barriers.

That caused the Monaco driver to miss the rest of the session, and at Ferrari they will have to work hard to have their car ready for Saturday’s session, although they will have to check the state of the gearbox so as not to repeat what happened to them in the 2021 Monaco Grand Prix, when they had to retire even before the race started.
