The Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the United States Government agency responsible for regulating food, drugs, cosmetics, etc., has already authorized the first condom to be used during anal intercourse, giving the green light to the use of One Male Condom from Global Protection Corp.

A victory for sexual health
While traditional condoms were previously recommended for anal sex, they are marketed for vaginal sex. Experts see the FDA move as a victory for sexual health and may be especially important for the LGBT community.
“FDA authorization of a condom that is specifically indicated, tested, and labeled for anal intercourse may improve the likelihood of condom use during anal intercourse,” agency scientist Courtney Lias said in a statement.

The condom, a shield to prevent sexually transmitted infections
How is this condom ? The One Male Condom is a natural rubber latex sheath that covers the penis . It has three different versions: standard, slim and fitted. Available in 54 different sizes , the fitted condoms incorporate a paper template to help find the best condom size for each user. When used during anal intercourse, One Male Condom should be used with a condom-compatible lubricant.
The researchers conducted a clinical trial to test the ability of condoms to prevent the transfer of bodily fluids. The study included 252 heterosexual men between the ages of 18 and 54. The protection failure rate was only 0.68% for anal intercourse and 1.89% for vaginal intercourse. The FDA gave a maximum limit of 5%.
The high success rate is due, according to experts, to the provision of lubricant and the introduction of instructions on how to use the product.
Condoms not only prevent HIV, but also chlamydia, gonorrhea or syphilis, and although it is estimated that about 6% of American men have sex with other men in an anal way, many heterosexual couples also have anal sex. Remember that the risk of STD transmission is greater during anal intercourse than during vaginal intercourse.
While the authorization underscores the public health importance of condoms tested and labeled specifically for anal intercourse, all other FDA-approved condoms can still be used for contraception and STD prevention.
The FDA has granted marketing authorization to Global Protection Corp.
