Federal President Steinmeier visits Erftstadt on Saturday

Düsseldorf – Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier will come to the Rhein-Erft district, which has been particularly hard hit by the storm on Saturday.

According to the NRW State Chancellery, the head of state and Prime Minister Armin Laschet visited Erftstadt at noon, where numerous houses and cars had been washed away. Steinmeier wants to get an idea of the current situation in the fire brigade control center and talk to rescue workers.

A visit by Steinmeier to the affected flood areas of Rhineland-Palatinate is currently not planned, according to a spokeswoman for the Mainz State Chancellery on Friday evening. dpa
