Fernando Alonso finished the Styrian Formula 1 Grand Prix in ninth position. The Asturian rider has once again scored points for Alpine in Austria while his teammate Esteban Ocon, who was fourteenth, was unable to do so. Fernando Alonso is aware that he could do little more in the race and that he will be able to do little more in the next race since it will be held on the same circuit and with the same cars.
Before the Movistar microphones, the Spaniard was happy with the work done from the start, showing how difficult it was for him to hold on to 30 laps on red tires. “We started eighth but we had made ninth in the clock, and ninth in the race are two points that are welcome ,” Fernando Alonso began by saying.
“We knew we were out of position . This weekend we weren’t super competitive. So we had to put up with the points there ”, added the Spaniard.
Fernando Alonso alluded to Leclerc’s comeback to emphasize that both Ferrari and other teams are one step ahead of Alpine: “ Charles had a puncture, he remains last and finishes ahead of us in the race . Many of our rivals are in another league . We did what we could and for the following weekend we will have to think about whether it rains or something because the cars are going to be the same, so we will see a very similar race ”.
Alonso and his goal in the next race
The two-time champion also alluded to the double to be held in Austria: “ It doesn’t make much sense to do two Grand Prix in the same place, with the same circuit and with the same cars one weekend followed by another. We will have to wait for the weather to help a little to create some uncertainty because if we don’t think we will see a repeat of this race.
