“We will have a first demo test tomorrow at Fiorano,” said team principal Mattia Binotto , when asked by Motorsport.com about shooting plans for the new Ferrari.
“It will only be 15 kilometers due to the regulations, and it is only for a demonstration. Then we will go to Barcelona, and the day before each team starts its winter session, we will have a 100-kilometre filming day,” explained the Italian.
“From now until the start of testing we will have a couple of days with the car, a demo event and a filming day.”
According to the regulations, the teams can carry out two demonstration events a year, with 15 kilometers and outside a circuit approved for Formula 1, hence it is at Fiorano.
“These demonstrations may not take place on track configurations currently approved for use by Formula 1 cars, nor exceed that distance, and only tires manufactured specifically for this purpose by the designated supplier may be used,” article 8.1.3 argues. of the sports regulations .
Ferrari has already used a demo event to complete a day of shooting the 2020 SF1000 with Charles Leclerc through the streets of Maranello.
Every time the Italians bring out the new F1-75, they will be able to do it for a maximum of 100 kilometers in filming day conditions, but they will have to be ready for the second week of the pre-season in Bahrain, from March 10 to 12, and for the inaugural appointment at the same site a few days later.
Binotto considered that Ferrari will have to learn a lot in the tests, since he understands that the car and the regulations will change the order of the grid.
At the beginning, there will be a lot of lap time to find because of the way we are learning and exploiting the performance of the car,” he said.
“Hopefully that will take us even a few races. I don’t think the performance will come out in one test, for us, it’s important to consolidate ourselves and keep the package for the start of the year, meaning the first two races.”
“It is possible that we will have some evolutions, but not huge, because I think that, at the beginning, it will be a matter of tweaking, learning and understanding to exploit the potential of the car,” he said.
