LivingTravelFlorida Medicaid Application

Florida Medicaid Application

Medicaid provides low-income Florida families with free or low-cost health insurance to provide a basic level of health care to all Florida residents. Applying for Medicaid is a fairly complex process, requiring different steps depending on how you qualify. Some require the involvement of only the state government, while others involve the Federal Social Security Administration.

Eligibility

  • Low-income families with children
  • Coverage for children only
  • Pregnant women
  • Non-citizens with medical emergencies.
  • Elderly or disabled individuals

Qualifications for low-income families with children

  • Family income below the Temporary Cash Assistance (TCA) limits. As of 2011, the limit is $ 364 for a family of four and increases by approximately $ 62 for each additional family member.
  • Countable assets less than $ 2,000 (excluding your home)

Grades for kids only

  • Children under 1 year of age with household income less than 200% of the federal poverty guidelines.
  • Ages 1 to 5 with household income less than 133% of the federal poverty guidelines.
  • Ages 6 to 18 with household income less than 100% of the federal poverty guidelines.

Ratings for pregnant women

  • The fastest way is the Medicaid Presumptive Eligibility for Pregnant Women (PEPW) process. To get this coverage, your household income must be less than 185% of the federal poverty guidelines. Apply for this coverage in person at a public hospital, county health department, or state-approved health care providers. It is only valid for 60 days and is designed to give you access to care while applying through the SEPW process.
  • You can get longer-term coverage by using the Simplified Eligibility for Pregnant Women (SEPW) process. You must provide proof that your income is below 185% of the federal poverty guidelines, that you are a US citizen, and that you are pregnant.
  • You can apply for Medicaid for low-income families with children using the ACCESS Florida online application.
