The 2021 Formula 1 season kicked off at the beginning of March with the pre-season tests in Bahrain. Since then, the single-seaters of the highest category have not stopped rolling in what has been one of the most exciting years in all of history.
With 22 races completed, thus setting a new record for the category, Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton starred in one of the most tense and even battles in living memory. Both drivers managed to reach the last race of the season even on points, the second time that happened in Formula 1, since the first was in 1974.
Finally, Max Verstappen ended up being crowned as the new new F1 world champion after a frantic end of the race at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, dethroning a Hamilton who had four consecutive titles and who was only one away from overtaking Michael Schumacher and place himself as the most successful driver in the history of Formula 1 alone.
Despite this, the activity of Formula 1 in this 2021 did not come to an end on Sunday in Yas Marina, since there were still two days of postseason to play in the same circuit that hosted the last race of the course.
Some tests that ended on Wednesday and that have definitively put the end to the year 2021 on the track. However, these last tests have been more focused on 2022 than at present, since although they still cannot put the future single-seaters on the track and one of the objectives was once again to give young drivers the opportunity, on this occasion the teams also they were able to test the new Pirelli tires that will come into force next season.
Contrary to what we have seen in recent years, the official tire supplier of Formula 1 will introduce new 18-inch compounds, a big change if we take into account that until now the teams have been racing with 13-inch tires, so that any data they have been able to collect in these two days could be crucial for the performance of their cars in 2022.
