Great North Jersey coffee shops to study or work

So it’s the final week and you need to get some work done , but how can you get anything done when your best friend Netflix is calling you? You just can’t, so get adventurous. There is always your local Starbucks or Panera, but why not try a coffee shop or bakery with a little character? Northern New Jersey is home to some great places to help you get to work without sacrificing convenience, most with free Wi-Fi, and all with the biggest feature: caffeine on tap.

Speaking of grind, North Jersey’s favorite, The Fine Grind, offers ample space for you to spread out with a computer or laptop. The store’s food and coffee menu is not only extensive, but extremely intriguing, from its pages of coffee concoctions to the quiches of the day. Feel free to order some food or drink and park it next to your laptop. When you’re done with your soup-bowl-sized cup of coffee, move to one of the couches for a chocolate fondue with your study group.

Coffee shops

4.6

Hailing from the homeland of coffee, Italy, Antonio Caré and Elisabetta Febbraro recently moved to Hackensack and opened Coffee Break in late 2015. Have you outdone yourself and desperately need a vacation? Just visit this little slice of Europe in Hackensack – the couple not only import food and recipes from Italy, they can also get the best espresso in the area. Do you still need to hit the books? Place a textbook under one of the coolest lamps we’ve seen: a mug suspended in midair, pouring “coffee” onto the table. Revered for their croissants (nutella and pistachio are to die for), pop into CB to start your day or reward yourself with a sweet after passing that test.

Owned and operated by Stefania Cocozza, originally from Rome, 9 Bar Café has been in the coffee business for more than 20 years. The coffee’s clever name refers to the amount of pressure (a 9-Bar) required to make a perfect espresso (yes, they mean business here). We know you’re probably looking to get away from anything school related, but this store offers monthly coffee education classes that we think anyone would enjoy. Top up with a cold drink before diving into the books, and just the books – this place doesn’t offer Wifi, but we love their explanation – they’d rather watch people talking to each other (study group time!), Or sipping a minute to yourselves with a drink.

Bakeries

4.6

Featured in The New York Times, Able Baker was started by owner Julie Pauly and her husband, who lost their jobs in Manhattan in late 2008. The Pauly’s came up with a little tenacity, love and support from tons of friends they loved. Julie’s bakery. Located in the heart of Maplewood, you will come for the food and stay in the charming atmosphere (cute drawings on the wall, bright open space, slow songs in the background) and the surrounding neighborhood. In a recent interview with The Village Green, Pauly assures us why this shop makes its way onto this list of the best coffee shops to study in North Jersey: “Having people on site brings an energy that draws other customers, for which never discourages those who delay. We have free wifi and don’t limit how long people stay. If we get full, I will ask people who work on laptops to share a table or to free up a chair by putting away their briefcase.

bwé kafe, which means “drink coffee” in Haitian Creole, according to the store’s website, works with La Colombe Torrefaction to deliver the highest quality beans in their little old mug in Hoboken. With each cup individually poured to perfection, patience is not just a virtue in bwé, it is ambrosial. The common seating is perfect for small groups to work on a project, however there are smaller tables if you are traveling alone. Visit the cafe’s Facebook page for information on events such as open mics!

Art History students are sure to appreciate the “Starry Night” mural on one of the front walls of this spacious store, as well as the Van Gogh references throughout the menu. Make yourself at home in one of the many seating options, from soft sofas to Victorian-style sofas. They say classical music as a background for studying or doing homework really helps; We will also respond to Jazz: on Sunday nights a live jazz or blues band plays from 8 pm to 11 pm
