As Motorsport.com has learned, the Italo-British engineer, a decisive piece in the achievement of the MotoGP world champion title that Joan Mir won in 2020, will not follow in the footsteps of the Mallorcan, who next season will become in partner of Marc Márquez in the official Honda team.
There, Mir will meet Ramón Aurín, who until now was in charge of Pol Espargaró’s garage, and who has the absolute trust of the bosses of the brand with the golden wing, especially due to his extensive experience in the championship, and with the Japanese builder.
The arrival of Carchedi at Gresini is due to the departure of Alberto Giribuola, the current technical manager of Enea Bastianini, who has signed for KTM, where he will hold a position of greater responsibility.
Bastianini, who next year will be promoted to the official Ducati team, will work alongside Marco Rigamonti, who until now was in charge of Johann Zarco. The Beast, meanwhile, will be replaced by Alex Márquez, whom Gresini has decided to assign to Donatello Giovanotti, Di Giannantonio’s companion in the Roman’s debut in the heavy bike category.
In this way, the market for technicians for the coming year is being clarified. In this sense, Alex Rins revealed in an interview with DAZN that he was fighting with Honda to be able to take part of his team to the LCR.
This news comes on the eve of the Japanese Grand Prix, which will take place this weekend at the traditional Motegi circuit. Joan Mir will not take part in the test, still suffering from the injury that he has been dragging on since the last Austrian Grand Prix.
