Gresini's widow pushes the great dream of the late former pilot

Less than a year after his unexpected death on February 21 of last year, the project Fausto Gresini was working on to return with his private structure to the premier class of the MotoGP World Championship culminated this Saturday with the presentation of the Gresini Racing Team , who will compete in the 2022 championship with two Ducatis in the hands of Enea Bastianini and Fausto’s last signing before his death, the young Italian Fabio Di Giannantonio.

Fausto’s widow, Nadia Padovani , has been the great promoter of her husband’s project coming to fruition with the invaluable help of Ducati, who, in the person of Gigi Dall’Igna , supported the presentation of the new line-up, which will have two 2021 bikes and technical support from the Bologna factory engineers.

The team’s two drivers, the young and talented Bastianini , who is entering his second season in the premier class, and the rookie Di Gianantonio , were in charge of unveiling the two prototypes painted in the team’s new colours, mixing light sky blue with red in a worked and quite striking composition.

It will be precisely Di Giannantonio, the fastest rookie in the tests last November in Jerez, who will be in charge of putting the bike on the track first, in the tests reserved for testers and debutants in Sepang at the beginning of February, before the general test the 6th and 7th of next month.

“2022 is already around the corner, it will be my first season in MotoGP and that’s great! I have a lot to learn, my expectation is to grow race by race and who knows, maybe we can do something interesting, pick up even some great achievements. Very soon we will be in the tests and I can’t wait to ride this beautiful beast again”, explained Fabio in the presentation.

“The bike is spectacular, perhaps the most beautiful I have ever ridden, the most beautiful I have ever seen, with that unique main color it looks like a 70s bike, retro style, on the track we will be recognizable, for sure”.

“The new colors of the bike are very particular, when I saw it for the first time it seemed a bit strange, but now that I see it live I can say that it is incredible. What a great bike, it can only be fast! “he said , meanwhile, Bastianini.

“In a few days we will be leaving for the tests. Fortunately there is little time left, because I am too excited and I want to be back on my Ducati. I already met the team during the Jerez test: we had the opportunity to get to know each other better and work together, and I can firmly say that I have a super team. I think it’s going to be a very interesting season, I’m sure we’ll achieve great results”, concluded the spearhead of the project, Bastianini , who last year made his debut with a 2019 Ducati from Avintia achieved the first podiums in the premier class and showed that he is one of the most talented and promising drivers in the category.
