After Lewis Hamilton admitted that some of his titles, won early, had been negative for the show, he explained that “I would feel sorry for the fans” if Verstappen takes the championship so soon.
Speaking ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix on Thursday, Hamilton said: “From my point of view, I’m not thinking much about it (Verstappen’s second title).”
“But yeah, I feel sorry for the fans. For everyone, and even for ourselves last year, when the fights come alive to the end, it’s more intense and exciting.”
“It’s never positive that the season ends early. Even when I’ve been the main character. For you, as a driver, it’s great. But for the sport itself, it’s not good.”
