Stream movies or watch them on the big screen? Heike Makatsch hopes that a large audience will soon find its way back to the cinema.
Berlin – The actress Heike Makatsch ("Actually… Love", "Men's Pension") hopes that people will flock to the cinemas again. "I think the cinema has suffered a lot," said the 50-year-old on Thursday evening at the opening of the Berlinale near Potsdamer Platz.
"The cinema is actually such a spontaneous cultural experience, where you sneak in and don't want to be seen at all and suddenly it's all under completely different circumstances." She hopes that people won't completely forget the cinema, given the streaming offer. "That's why it's all the more important to celebrate cinema, like at the Berlinale," said Makatsch. dpa
