Mii characters are the virtual avatars that users use in video games on the Nintendo Wii console. Since its launch in 2006, few gamers have resisted creating their own cartoon or that of their family and friends. The result is spectacular: there are currently more than 213 million Mii characters in the world, representing a population four times larger than the Spanish population.
If all the Mii characters created in the world constituted a country, they would become the fifth most populous nation on the planet, ahead of Brazil, Nigeria or Pakistan. According to this Nintendo Europe study, in Spain there are 9.6 million Mii characters. If they were people of flesh and blood, they would represent 20.8 percent of the entire Spanish population.
In the case of Europe, this "virtual colony" exceeds 73.2 million, which means that there are as many Mii characters as there are French, English or Italian. In addition, its population is quite equal, since in Europe there are practically the same number of Mii men as women.
