Before the summer break, VR46 Racing Team driver Luca Marini managed to cross the finish line in the top 6 at Mugello, Barcelona and Sachsenring. In addition, he was third on the front row of the grid in both Argentina and Mugello.
Accompanied by his compatriot Marco Bezzecchi, the VR46 Team has signed a favorable season for ‘Il dottore’.
After eleven of the 20 races of the season, Marini already has more points than in the entire 2021 season. But Marini has not only advanced this year. According to the Italian, his brother Valentino Rossi has also had an influence.
“Valentino sees everything from the outside of the track because last year he experienced it himself. He knows the tyres. Nobody else [from outside] knows them. That allows him to see everything. He sees what the bike does going in and out of the curves,” he explains.
Valentino Rossi ‘sees everything from off the track’
Marini continued: “Of course he also sees the different lines, but that’s easier for us riders to see. He understands how the bike works and how the rider works on the prototype. He helps us with a lot of feedback and advice.”
“But the special thing is that he also identifies these things from outside the circuit. That’s amazing! It’s impossible for other people to give that kind of feedback. They don’t know MotoGP, they don’t know anything about electronics and tyres.”
Following his retirement in 2021, the nine-time world champion is not a permanent guest in the paddock, as this year, Valentino Rossi started a new adventure in motorsport as a GT3 racing driver in the GT World Challenge Europe championship.
Rossi is not having an easy debut, although he has already taken two fifth places this year with his Belgian WRT teammate Frederic Vervisch.
