After a successful Spanish GP, the paddock remains in Europe, specifically in the French lands of the emblematic Le Mans track, which, once again, is part of the 21 events that the motorcycling world championship will host this season.
In a circuit where weather uncertainty, rain and high temperatures are the order of the day, tire management and weekend strategy will be essential.
From the outset, it is expected that the Le Mans track will have temperatures of more than 20° starting tomorrow, Friday, the day on which the opening of the action on the track is scheduled. This temperature could rise significantly, being able to exceed 35° on the asphalt on Saturday and Sunday. However, despite the fact that a weekend characterized by heat is expected, the threat of rain must never be ruled out at this circuit.
This situation invites the teams to think, in advance, how they will deal with tire management, since Le Mans is characterized by being a circuit that offers a lot of grip without the need to take them to the maximum.
In the general plan, the option of a hard or medium rear tire may be one of the most recurrent during this weekend. “The two best solutions are probably the medium and the soft, the latter being the most used in the last two editions of the dry season,” said Piero Taramasso on behalf of Michelin.
The Bugatti circuit, located just five kilometers from the French city of Le Mans and 200 from the capital, has nine right-handers and five left-handers along its 4.2-kilometre length, making this choice It will have a lot to do with the results on the track, due to the grip that the tires provide and their impact on lap times.
Although it is only an estimate, we will have to wait for the first free practice session to discover the bets of the 24 drivers that make up the starting grid of the premier class.
