Exercising for 45 minutes first thing in the morning, shortly after getting out of bed, reduces "motivation" toward food throughout the day, as Brigham Young University researchers have shown in a study published in the journal Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise . According to the authors, the work shows that practicing exercise not only involves an energy expenditure, "but also modulates how our brain responds to food" , as they themselves verified using an EEG to measure the neuronal activity of dozens of women while they observed photos of tasty plates of food after an intense morning walk.
As if that were not enough, in the experiments the scientists were able to verify that practicing sports at the beginning of the day also translates into an increase in physical activity in the following 24 hours.
