Jack Miller, tired of the comparisons between the Ducati 2022 and 2021

Enea Bastianini’s victory at the start of the 2022 MotoGP season suggested that last year’s Ducati could be one of the most competitive bikes on the grid, especially behind the current prototype’s locker. However, it seems that the situation has changed for the manufacturer from Borgo Panigale, with a Pecco Bagnaia increasingly comfortable on his current machine.

The Italian rider was the first to celebrate a works team victory, although the improvement in the red box is also reflected in Jack Miller’s results, as, since Austin, the Australian finished third, and has been constantly battling for podiums. .

Given the circumstances, both hope that the constant comparisons between the 2021 version and the current version of the bike will come to an end.

“If I’m completely honest, I’m tired of comparing the two because it doesn’t make sense. My bike for this year is the GP22 and of course it’s different,” clarified Jack Miller . “But compare it or try to find out the differences between the current one and the GP21… I don’t know, I’m trying not to think about it.”

“My goal is to focus on the bike that I’m riding this year and not lose energy concentrating on the latest version for 2021. It’s a fantastic package that we have, and I think I can make it better and better every weekend, because I feel that little by little I am making it more mine”, adds the Australian.

After six races, Bastianini is still the best Ducati rider in the general classification, but his GP22 brand-mates are getting closer to the Italian. “I feel like we’re starting to get the best out of the bike,” agreed Miller and Bagnaia after the Spanish Grand Prix.

At the beginning of the season, Pecco Bagnaia disagreed with the dynamics of the Italian team, arguing that he had to do too many tests and therefore did not find the ideal base with the new bike. But now it seems that change has been achieved, and Miller confirms that progress can also mean a step backwards: “That’s how development works,” clinched the Australian.
