In view of the tense Corona situation, the Düsseldorf Carneval Committee recommends that its members postpone all planned hall events in November.
Düsseldorf – Because of the fourth Corona wave, the carnival clubs in the stronghold of Düsseldorf should completely forego hall events in November. The Düsseldorf Carneval Committee made a corresponding recommendation on Sunday to its 70 member clubs in the city.
Scheduled indoor meetings should be postponed to a later date in the session. The free choice of the Düsseldorf prince couple with 1000 expected visitors, which is planned for next Friday (November 19th), is not to take place until the beginning of January.
“The decision was not an easy one for us,” said Committee President Michael Lrecken. In view of the increasing number of infections and the increasing burden on the health system, they see no other option. Lord Mayor Stephan Keller (CDU) hoped that there would be a different starting point for hall events by January through booster vaccinations and the reintroduction of the free corona tests.
The designated Düsseldorf prince couple Dirk II and Venetia Uåsa should be enthroned last year – that was canceled due to the corona pandemic. Now the second attempt will also be postponed. Both had recently avoided parties and events with many people in order not to contract the corona virus before the election.
The carnival prince was in Cologne the day before November 11th. tested positive for Corona. All events with the triumvirate of the cathedral city were then canceled for the time being. dpa
