Binder had his first experience in MotoGP last season and in the year of his debut he achieved what became the KTM team’s first victory in the MotoGP World Championship, at the Grand Prix of the Czech Republic.
After a first contract of two years guaranteed until the end of 2020, KTM now announces the renewal for three more seasons, until completing five at the end of 2024.
With this new contract, Binder joins Marc Márquez as the only driver in the premier class with a long-term agreement until that date.
The 25-year-old South African has progressed since 2014 through the KTM structure from the Red Bull Rookies Cup , through Moto3 and Moto2 at the hands of Aki Ajo , and reaching the premier class, in which he was rookie of the year. in 2020.
While KTM ensures the continuity of one of its important riders, it did not do the same with the Italian Danilo Petrucci , with whom it had an automatic renewal clause for the 2022 season that expired on May 31 and which it did not execute.
“I am super happy to have signed again for three more seasons with KTM which will take us ten years together. It is amazing to have been with this manufacturer for so long and we have always had a good relationship. I am very happy with the KTM colours, so it is very satisfying to have a long contract signed. It’s great to have that belief and support from a company. It is an honor. From here we can focus on building forward. We are not very far, and it would be very nice to do something big together. It’s exciting to see what these next few years will bring,” said the South African driver.
Pit Beirer , Director of KTM Motorsports, highlighted the desire that both parties had to close this agreement and pointed out that Binder fits perfectly into the philosophy of the Mattighofen factory.
“It has been a very easy contract for us to close, because we love Brad as a rider and for what he brings to the team, the factory and to the MotoGP class. He was also very excited to keep a big bet with us and that says a lot about our progression and our potential in this championship. Sometimes you find a rider with a mindset that really fits with your own philosophy and the fact that Brad has come to the top with us in a period of ten years is a very special story. We are very proud to continue racing with him and continue to set new goals together,” Beirer said.
