The end of the eruption seems to be a long way off. The indicators that the experts tirelessly monitor show that the eruption will exceed 84 days of Tehuya and will become the longest volcano in the last 500 years on La Palma.
The lava flows, volcanic ash and toxic gases will continue for many more days, according to the most recent statements by experts.
"Unfortunately the forecast is that the eruption will not end in the short term, " commented Francisco Prieto, technician of the Volcanic Risk Prevention Plan (Pevolca).
The National Geographic Institute has contemplated from its observation point at the Tajuya viewpoint (municipality of El Paso), the opening of several emission centers of incandescent pyroclasts and lava on the northeast slope of the volcano. The new lava emission began to flow north and then down the slope to the west.
Seismicity is also picking up. Many earthquakes mainly in intermediate depths, some of them perceived by the surrounding population.
The forecast is that the eruption of the volcano will not end in the short term.
The affected area is 1,102 hectares, according to data from the Cabildo de La Palma.
