The organizers of the test explained why the fastest cars on the planet would compete a day earlier than usual, and that is that the pilots will be on the screens of American televisions in prime time on the best possible day. In this way, they ensure that the public in the North American country can enjoy a passion that has just awakened thanks, in large part, to the Netflix series, Drive to Survive .
The fever for Formula 1 is such in the United States that in 2023 there will be up to three grand prix that the nation of stars and stripes will host, although all details are still being finalized until the single-seaters make an appearance on the streets of the Nevada city.
A little over a year before the race takes place, the championship decided to modify the shape of the track, going from 14 original curves to a total of 17 after the changes at the arrival of the sixth lap. After a long straight in which the first sector is expected to end, the drivers must make a right-angle turn to reach the modified area, and it is that in the long turn 6, very similar to the 4 of Sochi in Russia, they have included a small variant that will reduce the speed of passage considerably.
The total distance does not change, since the 6.12 kilometers that were announced and the 50 laps that must be completed in the race are maintained, nor are the expected two DRS zones available to see overtaking on the streets of The Strip, under the light artificial lights on Saturday night, along with the casinos and tourist attractions of the city of Las Vegas.
The American appointment will be the penultimate of the next Formula 1 course, and the organizers chose that date because in almost all probability there will be a pilot with options to proclaim himself world champion, despite the fact that there is still one more test to be played, that of Abu Dhabi, just a week later.
