Located on the north coast of Brittany, Saint-Malo is a charming resort and fishing village. Brittany Ferries arrive easily from the UK, making it popular with Brits who use the old port as a starting point for traveling further into Normandy and the coastal towns and delights of the interior of Brittany. Saint-Malo also makes a nice round trip through France if you start or end in Santander in Spain, then drive up (or down) from Saint-Malo, taking Bordeaux, the Dordogne, and the Loire Valley. It was originally a fortified island and still has a magnificent citadel and beautiful beaches nearby.

It is also the place for some of the best seafood in France.
