History of the moons

Los Lunas is named after the Luna family who helped colonize the area. La Luna Mansion is one of the homes of the Luna family and is located along the main road in town. It is a popular restaurant.

From 1990 to 2000, there was an increase in population, and as a result Los Lunas High School was opened. Since 2010, there has again been an increase in population, and Valencia High School opened further south to accommodate the growing population. Housing developments like Huning Ranch in West Los Lunas, west of I-25, have contributed to population growth. The town is known for its affordable houses.
