Lower Franconia's police have modified their training

In 2016, an assassin injured several people on a train with an ax – this is why the Lower Franconian police are increasingly relying on the training of patrol officers in dealing with violent criminals.

Würzburg – After the terrorist attack on July 18, 2016 in Würzburg, the police in Lower Franconia also increasingly trained and sensitized patrol officers to deal with violent criminals. After a 17-year-old attacked people on a train with an ax and injured a family from Hong Kong, the training content was checked and adjusted, the police said on request from the dpa. The protective equipment had also been modified, it was said from the police headquarters.

The IS terrorist network claimed the attack on a train near Würzburg. The act is considered the first IS attack on German soil. Almost five years later there was a knife attack in Würzburg around two weeks ago. A Somali stabbed three women and injured several people, some seriously. It has not yet been clarified whether this act also has an Islamist background. dpa
