Certainly, Madrid’s interest in becoming part of the calendar of the highest category of motorsports is not something new, but the way in which the Community of Madrid has moved on this occasion has been quite different.
Through the Minister of the Presidency, Justice and the Interior, Enrique López , the Community of Madrid got in direct contact with the president of Formula 1, Stefano Domenicali , to offer itself as the future venue for a motor racing Grand Prix in the capital of Spain .
In this letter, published on its social networks, the Community of Madrid expresses its interest in receiving Formula 1 and defines itself as one of the most developed cities in Spain and Europe at a social and economic level.
The advisor to the presidency defended Madrid’s candidacy, assuring that it has “an efficient transport system, good weather, cultural and gastronomic attractions and a great commercial diversity”, in addition to assuring that “the people of Madrid” would be delighted to receive the highest category of motorsports and all that this entails.
Continuing with his application, the letter defended “a good hotel infrastructure and a very diverse commercial offer with a unique schedule freedom”, as another of the attractions of Madrid to host a Formula 1 weekend.
Closing the letter sent to Stefano Domenicali, the Councilor for the Presidency, Justice and the Interior of the Community once again showed his interest and waited for a formal response from the top leaders of the category: “For this reason, this Government of the Community of Madrid has the greatest interest in making it possible. We are ready to work with you and your team to bring Formula 1 to Madrid”.
The Jarama Circuit hosted nine weekends of the highest category of motorsport throughout its history, but according to recent statements by the FIA, said circuit is not in a position to receive Grade 1 , which would give it the opportunity to receive the F1.
