The scourge of the COVID-19 pandemic and the political instability that the country is experiencing have led the promoters of the MotoGP World Championship to announce, for the second year in a row, the suspension of the Malaysian Grand Prix , which was to be held on the 24th of October in Sepang .
Instead, the Misano circuit, on Italy’s Adriatic coast, will host a second round on the calendar, this time not back-to-back, like last year at this same track.
Misano will be the scene of the San Marino Grand Prix on September 19, as planned, but it will also replace Sepang on the calendar for the date of October 31.
In this way, at the moment MotoGP ensures a season with 18 races , with seven grand prix still ahead, a figure that could be extended with one more grand prix that, almost certainly, would repeat those held in the first half of the course. , as in the case of Portimao , where it was run in April and will return in November, and now Misano.
For now, the Grand Prix of the Americas remains on the calendar and the promoters hope that the conditions are ideal to carry it out on the scheduled dates. The one that is very difficult to end up being held is, again, the Argentine Grand Prix.
