The tension is great: “I am your person” by Maria Schrader is going into the Oscar race for Germany.
Berlin – The actress Maren Eggert (47) is proud of the success of the film “Ich bin dein Mensch”, which is to enter Germany's race for the Oscar as the best international feature film.
"It's completely crazy what kind of journey our film is making," she said through her PR agency. "I am proud and happy and of course very excited …!"
The film (director: Maria Schrader) tells of the scientist Alma (Eggert), who is supposed to test a robot (Dan Stevens) as a life partner. The tragic comedy is currently running in German cinemas. Eggert, who comes from Hamburg and now lives in Berlin, won the Silver Bear for best acting at the Berlinale film festival.
The choice of the German contribution is only a preliminary step in the race for the Oscar abroad. The shortlist of 15 international applicants will be announced in December. The five nominated films will be chosen from this shortlist. The Oscars will be awarded on March 27, 2022. dpa
