It will soon be that time again: The Oscars 2022 will again see what is probably the most important film prize in the world. But where will the award be broadcast on TV and stream?
Los Angeles – The Oscars have been held annually in the United States since 1929. Prizes are awarded in various categories, all of which are related to the film industry. There is a prize for the best actress and the best actor in the leading and supporting role. The best film is also chosen. There are also categories for best make-up and best hairstyle, best scene, best song and many more.
The so-called Academy Award, as the Oscars are really called, will be presented for the 94th time this year. Most of the time, the awards ceremony takes place in Los Angeles, although there have also been celebrations in New York, according to the awards website. Films produced in the previous year are eligible for nomination. Thus, the Oscars 2022 will honor films that were shot and released in 2021. The celebration will take place at the Dolby Theater at the Hollywood & Highland Center in Los Angeles and will be televised live.
Oscars 2022 nominations: which films are they this time?
The Oscar is considered the most important film award in the world. It happens again and again that stars use their nomination and profit to spread political messages. A prime example of this is Natalie Portman, who drew attention to structural inequality and gender discrimination with her outfit during the 2020 awards. That year, once again, only men won the Best Director category — so Portman wore a dress with the names of female directors embroidered in gold letters.
And Marlon Brando also made a mark at the Oscars. He turned down the 1973 Oscar for his role in The Godfather in protest at the US film industry’s derogatory treatment of Native Americans. Instead, a Native American rights activist accepted it.
In 2022 there will be ten films up for grabs in the “Best Film” category. Among them are two Netflix productions. Once “Don’t Look up” with Leonardo DiCaprio and Meryl Streep and “The Power of the Dog”, a western drama, as can be read on the website Oscar.org. On TV and live stream – How to watch Oscars 2022 live on TV
There are some changes to the Oscars program in 2022. The event will be accompanied by three moderators. In addition, the event will be split into three parts.
