Márquez: "Everyone expects more from me, but we're not ready"

After the driving display with a monumental comeback in Austin, everyone expected this Sunday that Marc Márquez, starting ninth on the grid, was going to be in the fight for the positions of honor at the MotoGP Portuguese Grand Prix, however, the Honda suffered badly throughout the race and only at the end, thanks to the crashes of Joan Mir and Jack Miller, was he able to advance to seventh position in the race, earning one more position in the final laps overtaking his brother Alex, which he surpassed at the finish line by twenty thousandths.
“I know that everyone expects more from me, but we are not ready to fight for the victory,” admitted the Honda. “We made a change for the race but it wasn’t enough. I didn’t have speed. I tried to build my pace but I finished 16 seconds off the lead,” he added disgruntled.

Márquez complained yesterday about the lack of luck he has been having in recent times, and after the race he understands that he is not at his best.
“When you are in your sweet moment, everything works. I am not at that moment and the bike does not help me. I was fighting with the other Hondas, but my goal is not to be the first Honda rider,” he said.
Marc was asked what the Honda lacks, or has in excess.

“It’s not that something didn’t work, but that, in general, I wasn’t comfortable. Many riders say that the bike is comfortable, but in pre-season there is a lot of grip on the track,” he said in reference to his teammate.
Nor does the Spanish runner have good news when it comes to knowing if they will find the key sooner rather than later: “I don’t know how long it takes me to reach my good moment.”
The only positive thing for Marc is that he fought with his brother Alex and that in the end he was able to narrowly beat him. “In the race I had a good time and I looked for motivation. In the last laps I was taking Alex”, a prize that, however, does not satisfy him.
“We were looking to fight for the top five positions but we were far away. When you don’t have the speed, everything costs. Here I wouldn’t have been able to come back like in Austin. A sixth place can be good on time, but not as a rule”, settled the one from Cervera.
