Márquez: "I feel good physically after Aragón"

Marc Márquez’s rentrée after his fourth operation on his right arm culminated on Sunday at Motorland Aragón with an absolutely unexpected and chaotic outcome. The Honda rider was barely able to cover the first thousand meters of the race, when he was hit from behind at turn 3 by Fabio Quartararo, who left part of the fairing of his Yamaha embedded in the holeshot system, which left the Spaniard out of control. , at turn 5 he ran into Takaaki Nakagami, finishing the race for all three before the first step across the finish line.

The double action resulted in significant chest burns for the Frenchman, and with two fingers on his right hand operated on Monday morning for the Japanese, who will have to be declared fit by doctors on Thursday before facing his grand prize From home.

Within the bad luck, Márquez came out well since he did not fall nor, after the whole weekend at Motorland, did not physically suffer from his injury. “I feel good physically,” says the man from Cervera in the Japanese qualifier, after his body reacted favorably to the harsh stress he underwent during his reappearance last weekend.

And if for Márquez these are weekends of returning to action, it is also for Motegi and Japan, where no world championship race has been held for three years.

The last MotoGP race held in that country was held on October 20, 2019, with the winner being Marc Márquez, ahead of Fabio Quartararo and Andrea Dovizioso completing the podium. The now contenders for the title along with the Frenchman, Pecco Bagnaia and Aleix Espargaró, then outsiders, finished 13th and 15th, respectively, more than 30 seconds behind the Honda. Enea Bastianini, then, was not even in the queen class.

“I am very excited to return to Japan, it is the home race for Honda, it is a fun circuit and the fans are always incredible,” explains Márquez in the preview of the weekend.

Márquez has won three times in Motegi, in 2016, 2018 and the last race held there, in 2019, a circuit in which he is not a great dominator, but he is not bad at all, either, although the circumstances are now totally different .

“In Motegi we can find all kinds of weather, so we will have to be attentive to what happens. In addition, with the time change it will be two and a half very intense days,” he says, recalling that on Friday there will only be one session of training sessions, which makes the return of the championship to Japan unique.

The most important thing, however, is that the Spanish runner, after almost four months without running, did not suffer physically.

“I feel good physically after Aragon. We are going to enjoy a weekend back in Japan and continue working on our way towards a complete recovery and the development of the bike”, concluded the Catalan.
