Marc Márquez has been declared fit by the MotoGP doctors. The Spanish rider thus certifies his good physical condition, and confirms the program he had planned, so he will get back on his Honda next Tuesday to compete in the Misano tests.
The announcement has been made on the team’s social networks, and confirms all forecasts. This same week, the Spaniard got back on a motorcycle for the first time since his operation, and the sensations were good.
After two tests on the back of a CBR600RR, the pilot decided to travel to Misano. “Satisfied with the condition of his right arm, Marc will travel to Misano with the intention of riding the Honda RC213V during post-race testing,” Honda said in a statement.
Already on the track that hosts the San Marino Grand Prix, Marc had to undergo a final medical examination. Finally, the world championship doctors have declared him fit , so he will be able to get on his MotoGP next week.
At Honda they trust that the rider can go out on the track with the new Honda prototype for 2023 and give the necessary instructions to set the course for the development of a motorcycle that in recent years has become undrivable for all the brand’s riders.
Thus, the #93 hopes to put an end to an ordeal that dates back to the start of the 2020 campaign, when it crashed in the Jerez race. Marc fractured the humerus of his right arm, and quickly underwent surgery to get back on his RC213V the following week. However, he did not start, and a few days later he had to undergo another operation to repair the titanium plate, broken while opening a window.
Márquez would still have to operate a third time in that fateful 2020, since he had severe difficulties getting his humerus to finish welding. He returned to the ring in 2021, but dragging important sequels that prevented him from “enjoying” on the bike. Thus, in the last Italian Grand Prix he decided to interrupt his season to return to the operating room for the fourth time.
The one from Cervera explained on several occasions that his intention [and that of Honda] was to return before the end of this course. The Misano tests will serve as a test to check his resistance on a MotoGP bike, and will determine when he will line up again on the starting grid of a grand prix.
