Marc Márquez was once again, for one day, the absolute dominant rider that he had accustomed us to before the injury and despite not getting pole for the first time in his life on this circuit, he managed to dominate with an iron fist from the first corner to the finish line the Grand Prix of the Americas.
The Spanish champion already warned, since Friday, that in this circuit he wanted to come out with a good result, but on Saturday he warned that he had to “come together” to win, something that he achieved overwhelmingly.
“That way I didn’t expect to win, everything had to square up. Start first, slow down the first few laps and shoot when I wanted, not when the others wanted”, explained Márquez just getting off the podium.
“I managed the tires well and I was able to lose half a second in one lap to catch the others off guard. Everything turned out the way I wanted”, he added satisfied.
Despite his injury and the difficult conditions of the race, the dominance of the Honda rider was clear on a fetish circuit for him.
“Until the middle of the race I could drive like in practice. In the last laps we were all tired. Here we have all suffered; in the other circuits I suffer alone. But here, with more curves to the left, I was able to control it better. We have been able to win and we are going to see if we can get our head out little by little in the next races”, he argued.
During the weekend, Márquez was one of those who had the best pace, and in the race the only one who could maintain it.
“I was able to keep a good pace until almost the end. In the last three or four laps I went down a lot because Fabio [Quartararo] wasn’t interested in taking risks and I could ride more comfortably”.

This Sunday’s is the second victory for Márquez this year, both in circuits where he has always or almost always won.
“ Germany ‘s victory was more unexpected, like a gift. This victory has been most sought after. Since Friday I did not hide, I already said I wanted to be on the podium. On Friday we started well, on Saturday there were doubts, but we found the way. I put a little pressure on myself, sometimes things don’t turn out the way you expect, but in the end we were able to walk away with the win”.
A triumph that, however, does not cover the fact that the Spanish’s recovery process continues to be slow.
“These are not yet the results we want for next year, but you can’t suddenly go from fighting in the top ten to fighting for victory in every race.”
Once on the podium, Márquez celebrated the victory, but before that he pointed to the sky in remembrance of the late Dean Berta Viñales.
“When the anthem sounded at the end, I had doubts about whether to celebrate the victory or not. At that moment I have remembered a lot, above all, of the Viñales family, whom I have known since I was little, and that is the first thing that has come to my mind. This cannot be stopped, but it has been a difficult year and we remember those who have left”, settled the one from Cervera (Lleida).
