Before the Dutch Grand Prix returned to the Formula 1 calendar with Zandvoort as host, the Austrian Grand Prix had acted as a home race, along with Belgium, for the current world champion, Max Verstappen, due to its proximity to the Netherlands.
Thousands of the driver’s compatriots from the energy drink team flock to the Red Bull Ring each year to lend their support to Verstappen, turning the track’s grandstands into an orange tide celebrating the Dutchman’s successes.
This year, Spielberg promises a show, since it has been chosen as one of the circuits in which the weekend format with sprint race will be tried again.
For some years now, Verstappen has been going to the grand prix with a special helmet design different from the usual one, and this season was not going to be less. The Dutchman has presented a white and blue helmet, with the latter color replacing the gold details he had chosen for this year, in reference to his status as reigning champion.
The Red Bull driver himself was the one who used social networks to show off this new design, ensuring that the Austrian GP is one of the ones he looks forward to the most.
“As you can see, it has quite traditional colors: yellow and blue. A very fresh design but I have also added some chroma,” explained the pilot through a video on the social network Twitter, while showing the helmet to the camera. “Over here it has a nice detail, with the [foam] inserts also in blue. The helmet looks nice and fresh, so I’m really looking forward to putting it on.”
As usual, Verstappen presented two miniatures of the helmet, so that his followers can get a souvenir of the design.
On the other hand, the Red Bull driver also announced that there will be more news on Friday, and that he has prepared something together with the Wings for Life foundation, which is dedicated to finding a cure for spinal cord injuries, and that he will have to see with its brand new decoration.
