We live in historic and exciting times in the automotive industry. Little by little the manufacturers are positioning themselves. Some, current in favor, following trends. Others, like Mazda , go against the current, asserting themselves in the internal combustion engine and applying a new and revolutionary technology.
If we analyze the main options of the present, and we get the most effective from each one, without a doubt, we would be left with the consumption of diesel, the efficiency of a gasoline engine and the low pollution rates of an electric.
Explaining it in a simple and accessible way: the engine, depending on its performance level, may be in three different situations and behaviors.
The first would be what we all know as a gasoline engine to use, producing the ignition by the spark of the spark plug.
In the second and third situations, a quantity of fuel is replaced by air and when the pressure is compressed, it causes the explosion and ignition of the spark plug, in the third situation the ratio of gasoline to air is even lower. This represents a consumption saving of between 20 and 30%.
As you can see, the technology is revolutionary. From my point of view, the key to the success of the engineers has been to focus on the before, and not on the after.
