McLaren F1 will use this special decoration in the next races

Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo’s cars will sport a new livery, featuring neon pink elements and cyberpunk -inspired motorsport artwork alongside their usual papaya hues, to commemorate Formula 1’s return to Asia after the pandemic.

The striking bodywork is part of a joint campaign between McLaren and cryptocurrency company OKX , and has been described as ‘Future Mode’, with even the British outfit’s starting duo’s suits being special for grands prix in Singapore and Japan.

The Woking-based outfit’s managing director, Zak Brown , said the fact that the Grand Circus could return to the all-important Asian market for the first time since 2019 was worth going the extra mile for.

“We are very pleased to celebrate our collaboration with OKX through this bold and vibrant livery for the upcoming races in Asia,” explained the American. “McLaren and OKX are united forward in driving and in the constant effort to push the limits.”

“The ‘Future Mode’ campaign is an opportunity to uphold those values together on our global stage,” he said. “It’s fantastic to be racing in Singapore and Japan again, as those incredible circuits provide a fitting backdrop for us to celebrate our vision and partnership together.”

OKX Marketing Director Haider Rafique added : “It was incredibly fun for us and McLaren to design a livery for Asia. That new look signals the arrival of a bold new technology, and that’s what OKX stands for.”

“The cyberpunk design we’ve created celebrates the influence of Web3 on popular culture and brings this exciting collaboration to life on the circuit,” he said. “Debuting at the night run in Singapore, it is designed to future-proof the 24/7 [24/7] nature of OKX and the cryptocurrency markets that never sleep.”

To commemorate the unique livery, McLaren will launch a special limited edition shirt through its own store. The design will also be available in the official Formula 1 video game for the 2022 season starting next month.
