Kisses, hugs and caresses are more important for menthan for women in alasting relationship, as revealed by a study published in the journalArchives of Sexual Behaviour.
Until now it was believed that men used to pay more attention to sex when assessing their relationships, but researchers at the Kensey Institute at Indiana University (USA) have concluded that this stereotypical view is wrong. Analyzing more than a thousand couples from Brazil, the United States, Germany, Japan and Spain between 40 and 70 years of age, and whose relationship lasted an average of 25 years, they concluded that hugs and kisses make men happier than was thought. Specifically, men who kiss and hug their partners frequently were three times happierthan the rest. However, for women this type of cuddling did not influence the degree of satisfaction in the couple.
The study also reveals that for women, sex usually improves over time, especially after 15 years of relationship.
Regarding the factors that predict how satisfied the members of a heterosexual couple feel, the study reveals that for women the main thing is the duration of the relationship and their own sexual activity. For men it is somewhat more complex, since the duration of the relationship, as well as the physical health, sexual health and satisfaction (and orgasms) of their partner contribute to their happiness.
On the other hand, the data reveal thatJapanese men are more satisfied with their relationships than Americans, and these, in turn, said they were better than Brazilians and Spaniards. Japanese and Brazilian women declared that they are happier with their sex life than American women.
