During this season, almost all the critical voices have been addressed to the car of the star team, a car that was born with shortcomings and with some problems that seem to have a complicated solution, if they do.
However, one of the main problems for Mercedes at the start of the season, as is the case with the vast majority of its customer teams, has been the low speed on the straights. After four grands prix in 2022, George Russell sits in fourth place in the drivers’ championship, with Lewis Hamilton in seventh, both a long way from leader Charles Leclerc.
Meanwhile, in constructors, the star team has managed to save the furniture after several setbacks by Red Bull and Ferrari and remains in third position, relatively close to them.
