Miller: "I don't know where Pecco got that time"

Jack Miller has once again qualified on the front row of the grid, with his second position in Q2 at the Aragón Grand Prix. Like Pecco Bagnaia, his teammate, he is having a spectacular second half of the season , already a regular in the positions of honor.

However, ‘Jackass’ did not get off to a good start in Alcañiz. “Yesterday I wasn’t particularly happy, it was a bit difficult for me. We were analyzing what we had to improve and we made some changes overnight. This morning I felt more comfortable and I was able to improve immediately”.

“Then [in qualifying] I got a good time, I gave it all I had and I thought it was going to be enough, but when I saw that I was second I thought ‘oh my gosh, where did Pecco get that time’. I was surprised, because in the third sector I was losing my best time”, declared Miller in the press conference after the official practices.

When asked about the complete and utter dominance of the Borgo Panigale factory in recent appointments, Miller points to a “combination of factors”. “As the season has progressed we have been improving. Enea is on last year’s bike, and he is happy. I think the riders are riding very well.[…] Being able to go fast on different tracks and conditions shows how strong what is this motorcycle”, he added.

The truth is that they have managed to find the key in the evolution of the GP22, with which they no longer only go fast on the straight. “The fourth sector was always good for us because of the long straight, but the last corner, in which we have to turn the bike with the gas, always resisted us, but with this year’s we can do better.”

The Australian comes from having achieved pole position in Misano, which confirms his good level in one lap. However, in the race he ends up blurring a bit or, as in the case of San Marino, making premature mistakes. At the Adriatic event, Miller crashed before completing the second lap of the race, ruining his chances of victory.

“I’ll try to do at least two laps and finish the race,” he joked. “I’ve been working on my pace in FP4, but there are other drivers who have more pace. Anyway, I think I can find that little something extra for Sunday.” And he warns: “In the race I’m always finding something with which I improve.”
