Cheste.- After the morning rain, FP2 of the MotoGP Valencia Grand Prix was held in dry conditions, although with some moisture on the asphalt and a slightly cold environment. In these circumstances, Jack Miller achieved the best time (1:30.927), beating Pol Espargaró by a small margin, who was second (1:30.939) and who suffered a crash on his last lap, at turn 6, when he was trying to overtake Ducati with the clock already at zero, the 19th fall for the Honda this season.
Pecco Bagnaia finished third, ahead of Alex Rins (fourth) and Jorge Martín (fifth), who, like most riders, put on a new tire in the last six minutes of the session to secure a place among the top ten times of the day, in forecast that it could rain tomorrow in FP3 and they will be directly classified for Q2.
Takaaki Nakagami was sixth, ahead of Joan Mir (seventh) and Brad Binder (eighth). Andrea Dovizioso (ninth) entered the top ten, beating Johann Zarco who closed the top 10.
They will have to risk it on Saturday morning to enter Q2 Fabio Quartararo, who was 11th and also suffered a crash at the beginning of the session at turn 2; Aleix Espargaró and Franco Morbidelli followed him on the time sheet.
Enea Bastianini also crashed in turn 2 and Iker Lecuona in turn 11. The Tech3 rider, who set the best time in the morning in the wet, was 16th in the afternoon in the dry and has already had 26 crashes this year, the most. The brothers Luca Marini and Valentino Rossi closed the time sheet for the session.
