Miller won't do 'anything dumb' at MotoGP Australian GP

Jack Miller is the fashionable man in the MotoGP paddock . The Australian driver heads into his home race on a good note, having won the Japanese Grand Prix and finished second in Thailand.

Also, Jack married his girlfriend last weekend, between the dates in Buriram and Phillip Island. “It was a great day,” he declared at Thursday’s press conference. “I needed several days to recover,” he joked. “It was a very important moment in our lives, and we were able to fit it into the schedule. It was fantastic.”

If racing at Phillip Island is already special for any driver, in the case of #43 it is even more so. “I’m delighted [to be here],” he acknowledged. “Already in Japan and Thailand I was excited, because it was close to home. The fans come all over Australia to be here, they are very devoted.” “There is no circuit like this. It is unique,” he added later.

In addition, his good results in the second half of the season have allowed him to stay in a position to fight for the drivers’ title . When asked if he felt pressure, Miller took the opportunity to leave a friendly message to Quartararo: “The pressure is a matter of tires, and Fabio is the expert there.”

“As Aleix said, 20 or 40 points difference is not ideal, but we are going to continue doing what we are doing. I am enjoying the bike a lot, and if we can continue doing it and get good results, great.”

The team orders at Ducati was an issue to be discussed, even more so after Johann Zarco avoided fighting with Pecco Bagnaia in Buriram. “They have a battle to fight, and I’m going to try not to do anything silly or absurd. Obviously winning at home is every driver’s dream, and if we can try and challenge for victory we’ll definitely go for it.”

Like his colleagues on the grid, Miller does not believe that the height adjuster will be particularly useful at Phillip Island, and his opinion is not insignificant, since he is one of the few who knows what it is like to ride on the Australian track with that device. “In 2019 we already had it and we didn’t use it because we weren’t earning anything. More important will be the tire issue, especially because we will have to understand the new casing.”
