Missing woman (26): The police are searching in vain – private search is now starting

A young woman from North Rhine-Westphalia has disappeared since October 2020. The police are hoping for evidence of a missing person.

Bad Lippspringe – The police have been looking for a young woman from North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) for some time. The 26-year-old Scarlett S. has been missing since September 10, 2020. * At that time, she was hiking in the southern Black Forest (Baden-Württemberg) and suddenly disappeared. According to the police, none of the relatives or acquaintances has heard from Scarlett S. since then. The officials emphasize that this is atypical for the 26-year-old. The young woman is considered very reliable.

The investigators published recordings of surveillance cameras several months ago that were taken in a supermarket in Todtmoos, a small community in the Waldshut district. The photos were therefore taken on the day of their disappearance.

Missing: Police are looking for a young woman from NRW

The previous search for Scarlett S. – among other things with the help of the mountain rescue service in the southern Black Forest – remained fruitless. Therefore, a private search for the 26-year-old has now apparently started. As the Südkurier reports, numerous people roam the woods looking for the young woman. The search was geographically limited to the Wehratal. In a Facebook group called “Missing – Please Find Scarlett”, the organizers are calling for people to help. “We try to assess potential danger spots (can you crash here? Could Scarlett have come here at all?)”, Says Patricia Lindinger in an interview with the newspaper. Among other things, drones were used in the search operation, it said. Among other things, the equipment of Scarlett S. is searched. The police have published photos of it:

“Of course we recommend everyone to be extremely careful, to wear sturdy shoes, not to take any risks and not to go out alone,” continues Lindinger. The local mountain rescue service is critical of the private search and is now warning. The valley is considered “very dangerous”, emphasizes press spokesman Fabian Eckert in an interview with Südkurier. “The risk is particularly high with inexperienced people,” says Eckert.

The police are hoping for evidence in this case. Among other things, a personal description was published for this purpose:

  • is about 1.60 m tall
  • has a slim stature
  • wears long, dark blonde hair
  • carried a red Osprey backpack and a gray tent
