The Honda rider, winner of the last two races of the MotoGP World Championship, in Austin and Misano , will not travel to Portugal as a precaution, but it is expected that Valencia will be able to do so, in less than 15 days, where the championship will put its point and finally.
“Last Saturday, while preparing for the Algarve Grand Prix, Marc Márquez suffered a fall that caused him a concussion. After spending a few days at home and verifying that he is still not well, the doctors have carried out a checkup, after which it has been decided that he will not participate in the test as a precautionary measure,” reads the statement sent by HRC .
At the moment, the brand with the golden wing does not plan to replace him for the Portuguese event, but in the next few hours they will decide if Stefan Bradl gets on his bike, as happened in most of the tests that Márquez missed due to his shoulder injury law.
It so happens that the driver from Lleida returned to the Portuguese track last April after being out for 265 days, after being injured in the first race of 2020. Márquez reappeared as a champion, finishing third in FP1, but in the race he did not passed from seventh place. He still had to wait for Germany in June to break his 581-day winless drought.
With three victories, he is the second driver who has achieved the most in 2021, only behind the already champion, Fabio Quartararo. Before Portimao, the #93 is sixth in the championship, with 142 points, 33 behind Joan Mir’s third place, and is also the best-placed Honda.
