MotoGP - Márquez: "It was not the day to fall and stay in the middle"

The Honda rider was unable to complete the second lap of the Italian Grand Prix MotoGP race, suffering a crash that left him out of action. Marc Márquez tried to overtake a rival, touched slightly and ended up in the middle of the track. Fortunately, the riders coming from behind were able to avoid him, especially Franco Morbidelli , who had to make a detour to do so and lose all his options in the race.

“I have touched Brad Binder , it has been a career set but if someone is to blame it has been me”, Márquez admitted after the race.

“He was coming from behind, I tried to overtake him at turn 2, we were in that chicane where several riders have crashed in the same way (this weekend), it has closed in front of me and fortunately only I have crashed”, he added.

“I am left with the feeling of the warm up, and that it was a first lap in which, for the first time, I saw myself in a better position to attack than to defend myself. Surely then the race would have been long, but we have taken a small step this weekend”, the Honda man consoled himself.

“I’ve understood some things and the luck is that next week we’ll race again and I’ll be fresher because I didn’t finish the race today, we have to keep working in the box with my team,” he said.

Despite the fact that the threat of having to stop for recovery continues to hang over the runner, Marc assured that he will be in Montmeló on Friday.

“I will be in Barcelona for sure, and even more so not having raced today. It was a very weak fall but I stayed in the middle of the track and it was not the best day to have that feeling”, he said in reference to the tragic accident suffered on Saturday by Jason Dupasquier.

“In Montmeló we will be able to compete more. It is difficult for me to speak because when I remember my fall I remember Dupasquier. It has been a sad day for the World Championship, the day has not been bad for me, but for motorcycling it has been disastrous”, he said with a broken voice.

It was difficult for all the drivers to go out on the track after the minute of silence in honor of the deceased young driver.

“It is part of the risk we run on the track. Many times we want to forget it, we don’t want to see it, but when things like this happen, fortunately less and less, you realize what you’re risking every time you go running. As to why there aren’t many people in the world capable of going at those speeds, there is a risk.
