Márquez and Viñales got into an argument after the Honda man looked for his wheel to make the time in Q1 , a situation that came to throw the Yamaha man off center who finished classified very late.
The Maverick team strongly protested the attitude of Márquez, who acknowledged having taken advantage of the fact that the regulations allow this type of action.
“I have come across Maverick and I have spoken with him, lately we have a very good relationship and this is important. I told him that he has every reason in the world to be angry. He asked me why and I told him that I have some limitations and that I have to make up for them in some way, follow the riders and burn stages. I have tried not to bother him and leave him free on the court, but I understand his anger and that I have bothered him. I would like not to have these problems, that would mean that I am fast on the track and the situation would be the other way around”, said Marc.
The incident sparked again the debate on whether the regulation should contemplate this type of strategy.
“If it is decided to change the regulations and penalize it, other strategies will be used, like in Moto3. I know what the regulations are like and I have played to the limit, but within the regulations. They have done it to me in the past, I have done it in the past and today I have done it again. It is the way we have to try to solve our limitations, in this way I can save time with the aspirations. In the end we left the box at the same time, but I’m honest and we’ve been slow because of me”.
Looking ahead to the race, the Honda rider is aware of his limitations.
“It’s a race to finish, thinking about points doesn’t matter to me if I take 3 or 7 points, nothing changes. I have to manage. I’ll try to get out. All the riders have rhythm, like Maverick who is going to pass us because he is behind. I hope it ends with a good result.”
“I would like to give a lot of encouragement to Dupasquier’s team, we pray for him. It is not easy to get on the bike after seeing all that, but I hope that for the good of motorcycling and the paddock it will be nothing”, said Marc finally.
