Jerez.- The two training days this Thursday and Friday in Jerez are presumed vital for the development of the motorcycles and engines of the MotoGP manufacturers, after the freeze imposed on evolution due to the pandemic.
Takaaki Nakagami had set the fastest time (1:37.713) on his 4th lap of the 29 he had given at 1:30 p.m., when most of the drivers entered the box to take a break and eat for the part end of training.
The track opened at 10am and will remain available until 6pm, but the first driver to break the ice, Luca Marini, did not leave the garage until 10:53pm.
A total of 26 riders paraded through the Jerez pit lane, with debutants Remy Gardner, Marco Bezzecchi, Fabio Di Giannantonio, Darryn Binder and Raúl Fernández , the Spaniard on KTM-Tech3 who was the only one to drop to 1:40.3 at is now.
All the teams are riding with the 2021 and 2022 bikes, as is the case of the Honda , whose prototype for next year is being tested by Alex Márquez and Nakagami, due to the fact that Marc Márquez is injured and Pol Espargaró has severe pain in his right side for the fall of Valencia last Saturday.
Yamaha has the 2022 bike in the hands of its two official riders, Fabio Quartararo and Franco Morbidelli, and Andrea Dovizioso also has a completely black prototype in his box, supposedly next year’s bike.
Alex Rins, with 36 laps, was one of the drivers who lapped the most in the morning. In Suzuki they are testing many new parts waiting for the pilots to separate the dust from the straw to be able to put together the chosen ones in the 2022 prototype that they will already have in the Sepang test in February of next year. According to Sylvain Guintoli, the in-house tester I’ve been working with for the past few days, it’s the best GSX-RR he’s ever tested.
At KTM they have worked hard and taken many turns. Dani Pedrosa was with the bike from Monday to Wednesday, and this Thursday and Friday they have Miguel Oliveira, Brad Binder and tester Mika Kallio.
Ducati ‘s ‘red army’, commanded by Pecco Bagnaia and Jack Miller, already have a first 2022 version, which Jorge MartÃn and, supposedly, Johann Zarco and Luca Marini are also using.
