Misano.- The Repsol Honda Team rider achieved pole position two Grand Prix ago in Great Britain and here he stated on Friday that he was feeling the same as he had the weekend at Silverstone. The youngest of the Espargaró brothers managed to pass directly to Q2 and there he qualified sixth, the best of the HRC drivers.
However, up to four Ducati slipped ahead, with Pecco Bagnaia on pole leaving him more than eight tenths behind. Polyccio gave the result as good, but pointed out that it is insufficient for the demand that must be in a manufacturer of the size of Honda.
“It doesn’t give me much satisfaction to be the first Honda rider”, recognized the #44 . “The result is good, but not good enough. Being the first Honda eight tenths from the first is not what it should be.”
The biggest concern for the driver from Granollers (Barcelona) is to see how fast the Desmosedici are over one lap.
“Over one lap we don’t understand what Ducati does. It’s shocking how they can be so fast over one lap. You have to find out what they do. The Ducati works well with riders who have different riding styles, and a rookie like Martin,” he said.
Nor is the Barcelonan in race pace to follow the red bikes or Fabio Quartararo, who slipped third on the Misano grid.
“It is impossible for him to fight for rhythm with the Ducati and with Fabio. It would be unreal. In another circuit he could be 15th, and we are very far away. We are suffering,” he stressed.
