MotoGP: Quartararo crushes the time in the FP2 of Silverstone

Fabio Quartararo went down in a nasty high-speed crash at Turn 8 just six and a half minutes into FP2, hitting the ankle of his right foot, which almost got caught on the bike. The Frenchman was hurt after the impact and had to be helped by the marshals to get off the track and return to the box.

Just 15 minutes later, with 23 minutes to go in the session, Quartararo was back on track, on used rubber at the front and a new medium compound tire at the rear. On his first flying lap he set a time of 2:00.138 and then dropped to 1:59.317 , the fastest time of the day.

Until then, the Espargaró brothers had led the session, but in the last ten minutes most of the riders fitted a new soft compound rear and the times began to drop. Jack Miller finished second, ahead of Jorge Martín . Pol Espargaró , in one of his best practices of the year, was fourth, followed by Marc Márquez , who had led in the morning.

Pecco Bagnaia finished sixth with Aleix Espargaró , seventh and bothered by his brother Pol on his last flying lap, which prevented him from improving. Brad Binder was eighth and the top ten was closed by Alex Rins (ninth), who set the time on his last lap, and Valentino Rossi (tenth).

Eleventh was the young Iker Lecuona, who continues in a good line, while Joan Mir, not riding soft rubber, was out of the top 10, finishing 13th.

In addition to Fabio’s, we must highlight a new crash by Alex Márquez, the second of the day and the 13th of the season, only one less than his brother Marc.
