Suzuki ‘s crashed in Portugal when he was second in the race, and crashed again in Jerez , a fortnight ago. This Sunday, in rainy conditions and with a change of bike, Alex Rins crashed again, this time when he was riding third and had already gone looking for his second bike, with wet settings .
Being a flag to flag race, Rins was able to lift the bike and return to the garage to change the bike again and continue in the race, last, but he fell again.
“It’s complicated, we’re having a bad time, three zeros in a row is a lot. We did the impossible, I started 15th and I was fourth in the first lap, it started to rain, I caught Maverick, I started third to change the bike and in turn 4, where the front brake is not normally used, I slightly tightened. With the tension I was carrying, the brake helped me a bit to stop the bike, and I paid dearly, very dearly for it”, Rins recounted at the end of the race.
“I went back in to get the other bike, but I had the dry settings with the wet tires and the bike was very reactive, more or less I was able to control it until it closed in front of me because I didn’t have the setting on. adequate point”, justified the second drag.
Despite the very hard blow of going three races without scoring, Rins wants to stay positive.
“We have to look forward. The mechanics are surely in low spirits, but we have to keep fighting. We have achieved a pace in Le Mans that we have never had, ”he saw the glass half full.
“Despite these three zeros I feel physically and riding better than ever. We will arrive at Mugello to give everything once again”, he tried to cheer himself up.
However, seeing the level of the Ducati and Yamaha , and that of their leading riders, making up the ground seems like an impossible mission.
“Honestly, there are two very favorable circuits for the Ducati, but last year we were there. I feel very good with the bike, I’m at a level I’ve never been before, I do what I want except for the qualifying lap”.
“I am going to do a reset on today and I will arrive in Italy strong, animated and in a good work dynamic”, he insisted.
Rins was seen trying to give an image of encouragement, but at the same time he conveyed a certain desperation.
“Mentally it is normal that now I am in the doldrums and thinking about what has happened and what could have changed, but I am strong, we have been through many things, we have fallen three times, but I come home with my wife and my dogs and train bag, reaching the top of each circuit. Every day I wake up wanting to win the World Cup. Of course we are far, very far, but I do not give up. We will keep fighting.”
With three crashes, it is perhaps time to face the next races in a different way.
“Today I am going to face the race in Italy the same as always, I am not going to change anything”
Despite being in wet and mixed conditions, Rins does not exclude the Le Mans crash from his list of mistakes.
“I put her in the group that I’ve already had three imbecile falls, sorry. We have done what we could not do. I’ve come back ten positions, I’ve ridden hard in the rain, we changed the bike super fast and when I went out on the track I braked a little to turn better and I crashed. It’s complicated, it’s not easy times, but I feel strong and I’m in the best moment of my career, physically, mentally and on the bike. The day hasn’t been easy, but coming home and being with the people I love will allow me to get to Mugello strong”, concluded the Barcelona native.
