The images of Franco Morbidelli ‘s two motorcycles conspicuously emitting smoke was the most worrying image of the first day of the Doha Grand Prix . The Italian, as a precaution, decided to uncork his third engine of the season, out of the allocation of seven available to complete the season, as revealed by Motorsport.com .
However, this Sunday the list of engine use has been made public and three other runners have already used their third engine of the course.
Japanese Takaaki Nakagami , from LCR-Honda, fitted the third engine in FP3 on Saturday morning. Johann Zarco , from Pramac-Ducati, did it in FP4 prior to Q2 on Saturday. While Alex Rins , from Suzuki, did the same this Sunday morning, in the Warm Up, the last training session of the weekend.
So far no problems have been reported by the teams, who are in charge of managing the use of the seven engines available to each driver to complete the course.
The rest of the grid, for the moment, has used only the two engines with which the season began last week at this same circuit.
